Headline: Houthi Rebels Claim Strikes on Saudi Aramco Sites Amid Escalating Tensions
Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels on Saturday announced their targeting of Saudi Aramco facilities in the coastal cities of Jizan and Yanbu, a day after Saudi airstrikes hit Houthi positions.
According to Houthi military sources, the strikes were a retaliatory measure following the Saudi bombardments. "We will continue our operations until our demands are met," a Houthi spokesperson stated.
Meanwhile, two ballistic missiles and a drone launched towards Yanbu were intercepted by a surface-to-air battery operated by Greek personnel, as confirmed by the Greek air force media office. “Our system effectively neutralized the threats,” the statement noted.
In a separate development, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards reported halting four vessels attempting to navigate the Strait of Hormuz within a 24-hour period. The actions underscore an ongoing blockade that remains a flashpoint in U.S.-Iran relations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi asserted that Tehran is not to blame for the rising tensions, emphasizing, “There is no military solution.” He also expressed willingness to mediate discussions between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia in an effort to de-escalate the situation.
The exchange of hostilities reflects an intensifying conflict in the region, with both sides signaling a readiness to escalate if diplomatic efforts fail.
