Trump Issues Stark Warning to Russia After Medvedev’s Ultimatum Remarks

In a fiery response to former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s comments, US President Donald Trump on Saturday cautioned Russia against escalating tensions, emphasizing a strict timeline for ceasefire negotiations in Ukraine.

Trump’s remarks came in a post shared on Truth Social, directly addressing Medvedev’s assertion that continued “ultimatum game” tactics by Trump could lead to war. “Let’s keep it that way, and tell Medvedev, the failed former President of Russia, who thinks he’s still President, to watch his words. He’s entering very dangerous territory!” Trump wrote.

Medvedev’s warning, issued on the platform X, suggested that each ultimatum from the US represents a threat, not just to Russia but potentially to the United States itself. “Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war,” he stated. The Deputy Chair of Russia’s Security Council clarified that “Russia isn’t Israel or even Iran,” emphasizing the grave implications of such rhetoric.

Trump’s timeline for a ceasefire has significantly tightened, reducing a previous 50-day deadline to a mere 10 to 12 days for Russia to halt its military operations. “I am disappointed in President Putin, very disappointed in him. We’re going to have to look, and I’m going to reduce that 50 days that I gave him to a lesser number,” Trump told reporters during his visit to Scotland.

In light of Trump’s ultimatum, the Kremlin responded, stating, “We have taken note” of the warning, indicating that this could further strain US-Russia relations amid ongoing hostilities in Ukraine.

As diplomatic tensions heighten, both leaders’ statements reflect escalating concerns about the potential for conflict, underscoring the fragile state of international relations between the two nations.
